This piece came about while experimenting in my home studio with field recordings and string loops using a Viola Da Gamba. The samples were taken in what seems like a lifetime ago, wandering through a fairground and food market in Nottingham's old Market Square.

 

Listening to the sounds of people milling about and playing on the rides, unaware then of how alien their surroundings would be in the coming months, feels almost like a historical document of a time long past.

 

The final field recording was taken at Attenborough Nature Reserve. The sounds of nature have been the one thing that remains untouched and actually became more noticeable during lockdown.
